And a good time was had by all.
CANA kicked off the holiday season with a blast. Children, tweens, teens, adults and seniors gathered for an evening of celebration, fellowshipping and dining. Our reach extended beyond the Austin borders as several of the participants came from the South Side and the North Side of Chicago.
Although the weather felt almost “balmy” for a December evening, the rain “dampened” the participation level for outside caroling. So the many singing enthusiasts sang indoors.
The rule was that the last person to enter the room had to lead the group in a song. There were solos, duets, quartets and full blown junior choirs. We enjoyed songs performed by some really talented neighbors. We discovered some STARS !!
We were further delighted to have an electrifying performance by the talented group Heat Works, led by the son of a CANA member. They have appeared on several dance shows on television. Currently, they are finalists in a dance contest sponsored by the radio station WGCI. Every one present enthusiastically planned to vote for them and could certainly see why they were in the finalist group.
We dined on a meal that reflected the kindness and great generosity of our neighbors. Every one had more than enough and all of the cooks were complimented on their fine work.
This gathering was exclusively focused on just socializing with neighbors. We plan to be back to the regular meeting agenda in January. Hope to see you there.
