CANA is ready and willing to help. Working together we can accomplish great things.\u00a0 LET&#8217;S GO TO WORK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects and Priorities for the Austin Community<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Austin Community Comprehensive Strategic Plan<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A Clearly Articulated Vision, Documented Projects, and Measurable Indicators of Success<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Economic Development:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a <a title=\"Community Web Portal\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagolawnportal.org\/About-Us4\/The-Southwest-Smart-Communities-Initiative.html\" target=\"_blank\">Community Web Portal <\/a>to inform residents, facilitate project management, and solicit input<\/li>\n<li>Create <a title=\"National Urban League's 10 Point Jobs Plan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nul.org\/content\/12-step-blueprint-jobs-plan\" target=\"_blank\">Community Wide Jobs Plan <\/a>that address worker training and bringing in new employers<\/li>\n<li>Work with <a title=\"What other communities are doing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofchicago.org\/city\/en\/depts\/dcd\/provdrs\/ec_dev\/news\/2011\/jun\/community_developmentcommissionrecommendsprojectstocultivatesmal.html\" target=\"_blank\">City of Chicago Departments \u00a0<\/a>to create development plan for Austin that embraces long term strategic goals.<\/li>\n<li>Make use of \u00a0Special Service Area (SSA), TIF and other tools to create and direct funds toward strategic goals<\/li>\n<li>Direct <a title=\"Chicago TIF Projects\" href=\"http:\/\/chicagotalks.org\/TIFstory2011\/?utm_source=AustinTalks.org+List&amp;utm_campaign=db6944d4b9-AustinTalks_Newsletter_6&amp;utm_medium=email\" target=\"_blank\">TIF funds <\/a>toward key community improvement project<\/li>\n<li>Create Business and Entrepreneurship Incubator in Austin<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Build <a title=\"Community War Room\" href=\"https:\/\/cana16.com\/?p=420 \" target=\"_blank\">Community War Room <\/a>for Community Improvement Projects<\/li>\n<li>Enforce loitering and littering ordinances and increase \u201cno litter zones\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a minimum of three Magnet Schools to Austin<\/li>\n<li>Bring a minimum of Three New Charter Schools to Austin<\/li>\n<li>Work to create a \u201c<a title=\"Promise Neighborhoods\" href=\"http:\/\/www.catalyst-chicago.org\/news\/index.php?item=2638&amp;cat=5\" target=\"_blank\">Promise Neighborhood<\/a>\u201d to emulate the Harlem\u00a0 Children Zone Successes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Youth and Family Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate creation of more neighborhood institutions that are independent<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Build a Comprehensive Austin Community Center with Park District programs, State of the Art Library, business incubator services (see Bolingbrook\u2019s Fountaindale Public Library\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.chicagotribune.com\/2011-03-07\/news\/ct-met-library-of-the-future-0308-20110307_1_wi-fi-new-library-library-district\">http:\/\/articles.chicagotribune.com\/2011-03-07\/news\/ct-met-library-of-the-future-0308-20110307_1_wi-fi-new-library-library-district<\/a>\u00a0 )<\/li>\n<li>Increase Services and Upgrade the Austin Town Hall, Columbus Park and the Austin YMCA<\/li>\n<li>Position \u00a0Austin to be a part of the city\u2019s\u00a0 \u201cSmart Communities Program\u201d under the \u201c<a title=\"Chicago Digital Excellence Program\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofchicago.org\/city\/en\/depts\/doit\/supp_info\/digital_excellencedemonstrationcommunities.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Digital Excellence Initiative<\/a>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Create Community Wide Anti Litter Campaign in schools, blocks, businesses and apartment buildings<\/li>\n<li>Create Community wide Beautification campaigns in schools, blocks, businesses and apartment buildings<\/li>\n<li>Develop programs that instill greater sense of pride and elevate expectations of the community and ourselves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Public Safety:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Address Poor Police Response Times by demanding release of OEMC Response time data to drive fair allocation of police resources for Austin and other under-served communities<\/li>\n<li>Develop Innovative, collaborative \u00a0programs to address drug dealing and substance abuse in Austin, community wide.<\/li>\n<li>Develop Protocol that focuses on education, services and jobs instead of incarceration but immediately targets offenders with wrap around services and removal from the streets<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Create plan and programs to encourage community participation with other efforts to reduce crime.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Develop plan to address criminal activity that negatively
