In high gang conflict areas, he has committed resources to conduct seat-belt checks, which he states have had a positive measurable impact on reducing gang presence.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He is encouraging officers to park and walk 2 blocks during every shift. Supervisors will log this activity and assign an event number for these activities<\/p>\n He also has required beat officers to attend the beat meetings.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n DISCUSSIONS TOOK PLACE AROUND THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF CONCERN.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Community Safety<\/span><\/p>\n Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan Lawsuit<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to the CANA lawsuit, there is a lawsuit aimed at the Chicago police department from the Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan<\/a> sued the city of Chicago, contending Mayor Rahm Emanuel<\/a>‘s reforms are not sufficient to prevent the Chicago Police Department<\/a> from continuing a pattern of deadly and excessive force that disproportionately hurts African-Americans and Latinos.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This lawsuit is based on findings of the Justice Dept. investigation. Policing deficiencies: inadequate training and a lack of supervision to “a failure to investigate misconduct and discipline officers.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Community Safety<\/span><\/p>\n The Grassroots Alliance For Police Accountability<\/span><\/p>\n GAPA released its proposal after more than 18 months of community meetings, a process backed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel<\/a>. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson<\/a>, though said that it isn\u2019t a good idea for a proposed seven-member civilian board to have so much power. Lori Lightfoot agrees with language that would give power over the superintendent and the department policy. Emanuel didn\u2019t say<\/a> whether he supports the proposed board.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n North Side Ald. Harry Osterman, 48th, who will co-sponsor the proposal. will introduce the group\u2019s proposal as an ordinance within the next 30 days.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Community Beauty<\/span><\/p>\n April 21 Spring Clean and Green<\/span><\/p>\n You and your neighbors can make an immediate difference in our community by volunteering for Chicago\u2019s citywide Clean and Green Day of Service.
