CANA Cleans up the Neighborhood

CANA Members begin Anti-Litter Campaign by picking up trash throughout the neighborhood!

Twelve neighbors and members joined Facilitator Marvin Marshall picking up trash along Austin, Mason, Mayfield and Menard this past Saturday morning. Yes we can make a difference!

Working to make our neighboorhood beautiful!

The team relaxes after a full day at 3rd Unitarian Church and enjoyed a great meal provided by the Marshall family.

I heard Seretha Reid on Chicago Public Radio this week and was followed up on what might be happening in the Austin neighborhood where I grew up back in the 1940’s and 1950’s. I’ve visited since many times and have been more than a little distressed by the way it has been abandoned by the city politicians. So I was delighted to learn about CANA and also about some of the election activity. I hope you are going to get new life in the alderman’s election. Good luck with your community organizing.

Mary, Thanks so much for your kind words. We are working very hard to address the many problems and opportunities in our community. Next time you are in our fair city, please look up up. We would love to meet with you and talk about the history of Austin through your years here. Perhaps we can do an article about your experience and the kind of community Austin was and can be again.

Thanks, Ron Reid – CANA Secretary
